About
From technical writing to the rabbinate
I was ordained as a rabbi by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in 2008. Before that, I spent close to twenty years as a translator, software technical writer, systems trainer, and project manager. I like to say I still explain things, but the material is better now.
I served congregations in the United States and Canada for 16 years, and in 2024 my wife Bettina and I returned home to Jerusalem. Today I teach, write, and run three ventures: Jewtor, providing online tutoring to bar and bat mitzvah and adult students, where I serve as COO; Judaism Online, a site for adults (Jews and non-Jews) who want to learn Judaism online on their own schedule, where I serve as CEO; and Jerusalem Rabbi, offering rabbinic officiating for bar and bat mitzvahs and weddings in Israel.
