Steven Schwarzman - Rabbi and Author

Rabbi Steven Schwarzman

Rabbi Steven Schwarzman

Steven Schwarzman worked as a technical writer, trainer, and project manager for over 20 years. Now he is an ordained rabbi, and while he still explains things, the material is better.

He has served congregations in the US and Canada, and currently makes his home in Mount-Royal, Quebec, where he is rabbi of Congregation Beth-El.

His first career was with an Israeli software company, where he began as a technical writer and eventually sold and managed training projects for customers. He lived in Israel for nine years. He served in the IDF, and two of his children have done the same. Another has volunteered as a teacher in an Israeli development town.

He went back to school in 2003, at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, and was ordained in 2008. He has been a congregant, and has worked in the “real world”, and knows that shuls today, more than ever, need to transform themselves from stuffy institutions to hotbeds of Jewish growth and personal connection.

He is married and the father of four.
